Sympathy For Al-Qaeda Among America's Wacky Foreign Policy Elite
Well, this is not a surprise. CFR member Ed Husain slyly implies that Al-Qaeda is doing great things in Syria and performing a necessary role. Hewrites:
"The Syrian rebels would be immeasurably weaker today without al-Qaeda in their ranks. By and large, Free Syrian Army (FSA) battalions are tired, divided, chaotic, and ineffective. Feeling abandoned by the West, rebel forces are increasingly demoralized as they square off with the Assad regime's superior weaponry and professional army. Al-Qaeda fighters, however, may help improve morale. The influx of jihadis brings discipline, religious fervor, battle experience from Iraq, funding from Sunni sympathizers in the Gulf, and most importantly, deadly results. In short, the FSA needs al-Qaeda now."Who knew Al-Qaeda terrorists had friends in high places in the Western foreign policy establishment? My, my, my. What a wonderful and crazy world we live in.
Paul Joseph Watson writes about the Western media's admission that Al-Qaeda is leading the charge against Assad's popular government in his article, "CFR Strategist Praises Al-Qaeda Bombings In Syria":
"It’s astounding to witness the mainstream media and the establishment now admitting what for months they denied – that Al-Qaeda is not only present in Syria but actually leading the uprising against the Syrian government.Recent events in Syria only confirm our original suspicion that Washington and Al-Qaeda are enemies in name only. American soldiers are training these guys during the day and fighting them at night. It's a great business, and a fun way to pass the time.
It’s also jaw-dropping to witness the lashings of praise being heaped upon Al-Qaeda for their efforts in carrying out terrorist attacks to precipitate a NATO-backed regime change, while those very same people simultaneously cite Al-Qaeda’s presence as a justification for U.S. and NATO military involvement in Syria."
It is also fun to watch the wacky proponents of Al-Qaeda in America's foreign policy establishment try to pull off intellectual somersaults when they write about Al-Qaeda's campaign of terrorism in Syria. They land on their asses every time. If war had its Olympics then they would be the "itty-bitty" gymnasts.
But, remember, we must give up our rights here in the West because Al-Qaeda is a threat to our existence.
