Libyan civilians, defying NATO to strike Muammar Qaddafi's Tripoli compound, Bab al-Azizia in the air war, code-named Operation Unified Protector, nightly converge at the site of Ronald Reagan's 1986 bombing of the compound, to chant, "Allah, Muammar, Libya wa bas!" (God, Muammar, Libya Only!)





Bab al-Azizia compound which sees nightly demonstrations supporting Muammar Qaddafi. The compound has been a target for U.S. forces since 1986, when Ronald Reagan ordered an attack on Qaddafi.





A monument at Qaddafi compound marking the 1986 U.S. attack, which killed Qaddafi's adopted daughter. An airstrike on the Libyan First Lady's house in Tripoli on April 30 killed Qaddafi's son and three grandchildren. Muammar Qaddafi was present at the residence but reportedly unharmed.

The nightly pro-Qaddafi demonstration at the Libyan leader's military and residential compound. This reporter taught several young Libyans a new chant, "Sarkozy, Obama and Cameron suck!" The word "suck" does not translate well into Arabic, however, when it was explained by one English-speaking Libyan, several Libyan demonstrators responded, "Obama is a motherfucker." Mission Accomplished!
